Flora de Fauna
Stats: approx. the same for all of them, except for alicorn, which is 10%. Flora de Fauna
3:1 female:male ratio (because females tend to be more motherly, which is important)
Appearance: A plant-like tail with a flower at the end, and on their hind legs they have roots. Sometimes, they have flowers in their manes, but ONLY if they are born from a Mother Flower (more info on that below) Some of them also have body markings, though only approx. 35% of them (at the most) do have these markings. Alicorns can have body markings, but it is incredibly rare.
History and Purpose: An unknown goddess saw the ponies expanding their territory. Although she know that she could generally trust them, she panicked and sought out to protect the forests of Equestria and beyond (with this, we can assume she is the Equestrian goddess of the Forest). What she did is create a kind of plant extremely rare that she spread throughout her forests. This plant could produce seeds that would fall to the ground and grow to be a new species of pony- the Fauna de Flora. These ponies would be born with a closed bud that would bloom to be any flower. It is unknown what their flower will be until it blooms. The purpose of the Fauna de Flora is to be Guardians of the Forest.
General information: Fauna de Flora are a generally gentle-natured species, but when their forest is threatened they become extremely protective and have almost a "mother bear" type of reaction/instinct. They are distinguishable by their plant-like tail, which the unknown goddess gave then as a sign of honor. When they are first born, these tails have a closed bud at the end which blooms into any type of flower, and multiple Fauna de Flora may have the same flower (ex. Two may have roses). What kind of flower this will be is unknown to all until it actually blooms, and they are extremely important to them- it is essentially like a cutie mark, acting as a sign of puberty and distinguishing them from other Fauna de Flora. For some, their tails will grow thorns (it is important to note that NO Flora de Fauna are born with thorns). Thorns generally don't grow since they are such a gentle species, but if they do the pony in question has been hurt extensively in some way or another and their thorns are a way of their tails trying to protect them.
Breeding: They are usually bred, but in the ancient days the first ones came from a Mother Plant (what they call the plants that originally created them). Even so, there are some rarer cases in which the plants will bear another seed. These are usually alicorns, which can NOT be bred, because the unknown goddess that made the species creates them and they become "chosen ones," with more power than the average Fauna de Flora. These Fauna de Flora are created to have authority over the others.
Habitat: Because of their purpose to protect the forest, they live in forests. They usually live as a family and when the child(ren) become of age they roam off on their own. They do not travel/live in tribes. Some tend to travel. But they usually stick to one forested area, claiming it "theirs."

heh looks like some of the people commenting on this don't understand that you can't have a monopoly on ponies with flowers on their butts. >> silly people.
i think the species is cool and the proof is in the pudding~ the characteristics and story makes them unique.
